Some customers of Spectrum expected to see higher TV or internet prices

Some Spectrum customers may be paying more for their cable and internet service soon.

Among the charges being increased for some customers, a broadcast TV surcharge will go up  just over $1 to $9.95 a month, and the cost for a Spectrum receiver is rising about 50-cents to $7.50.

Some internet prices are going up as well. The cost for people who subscribe to Spectrum TV is rising $5 to $59.99, and for customers who don’t subscribe to Spectrum TV, the internet price is going up $1 to $65.99.

But a company spokesperson says there are no changes to package prices for Spectrum Voice and Spectrum TV.

The increases that do take effect will happen on or after November 1.

This is happening as Charter Communications, the corporate name for Spectrum has been negotiating with the NY State Public Service commission after the state had earlier revoked its approval of the merger between Charter and Time Warner Cable, which could force Charter to leave the state.

Recently, the PSC gave Charter/Spectrum more time to appeal the state’s decision. The company now has until November 26th to file for a rehearing.
