A Syracuse IT firm says a state grant will help it train and add new employees.
Former Syracuse mayor Matt Driscoll visited IV4 in downtown Syracuse Monday to announce the grant. Driscoll is now the director of the New York Environmental Facilities Corporation.
The $50,000 grant is part of the money the Central New York Regional Economic Development Council secured late last year.
IV4's CEO, Mike Spoont, says the process of getting the grant through the regional council was smoother than past experiences.
IV4 offers tech support and consulting for companies. It employs about 35 people in Syracuse and also has offices in Rochester.
The grant will train 21 workers. The company is also adding employees, says Spoont.
"This particular grant will help our company in very significant ways and help our employees grow as well," he says.
