All seven buildings in the Oswego City School District were placed in a lockout Thursday afternoon, after a suspicious image was shared on social media.

Oswego Police say a student, who was not in school Thursday, was shown in an image making a threatening statement. That image was shared on social media. District officials were notified, who then placed the district buildings in a lockout just after noon Thursday.

District officials say they knew the student was not at any of the district's schools and the lockout was put into effect out of an abundance of caution. The student was located and is cooperating with police, officials say.

Oswego Superintendent Dean Goewey says the lockout lasted about an hour and classes, and dismissal, would resume as normal.
