Special coverage: Republican National Convention, August 24-27

The Republican National Convention gets underway Monday, August 24 at 11:30 a.m. EST as delegates present their votes to re-nominate the president as their candidate. NPR and WRVO will provide live special coverage of the Republican National Convention from Monday, August 24 - Thursday, August 27. Listen on-air and online each night from 9 – 11:30 p.m. EST. NPR will also provide a separate liveblog analysis for each day of the convention that will be available on WRVO’s homepage. Note that there will be no 9 p.m. hour of “Q” on those days and “Tuned to Yesterday” will air from 11:30 p.m. – midnight only. You can hear a full two hours of "Tuned to Yesterday" from 8 - 10:00 p.m. each evening on WRVO-2.  WRVO-2 is available online and with the free WRVO app.

Each night members of the Republican party are expected to speak.

Monday: Senator Tim Scott, House Republican Whip Steve Scalise, Representative Matt Gaetz, Representative Jim Jordan, Nikki Haley, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and Donald Trump, Jr.

Tuesday: First Lady Melania Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Senator Rand Paul, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Eric Trump and Tiffany Trump.

Wednesday: Vice President Mike Pence, Second Lady Karen Pence, Senator Marsha Blackburn, Representative Elise Stefanik and Lara Trump

Thursday: President Trump, HUD Secretary Ben Carson, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senator Tom Cotton, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani and Ivanka Trump.

President Trump is formally accepting the Republican Party’s renomination for president on Thursday. NPR reporters will provide live analysis of his remarks, on-air and online.
