Administrators from Syracuse University and LeMoyne College sign a new partnership.

Syracuse University and LeMoyne College have announced a new academic partnership for graduate students at SU’s School of Information and LeMoyne’s Madden School of Business.

“Students from the Madden School can take courses from us toward their masters and either count it towards their masters at LeMoyne, or get a separate CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies) and the reverse," said iSchool Dean Liz Liddy.

Students specifically will be able to earn certificates in the health information and enterprise systems specialties at LeMoyne, and Data Science and Information Security at SU, all growing fields. And along with creating more options for students, officials say it is a cost savings for schools that don’t have to hire more faculty.

There are a handful of other collaborations like this between the two schools, according to LeMoyne President Linda LeMura.

"I think you are beginning to see more collaboration occurring between institutions," LeMursa said. "But the nice thing is that LeMoyne and SU have been at this for quite some time now, and we’re now more into the refinement mode as opposed to starting from scratch."

She expects more collaboration in the future.
