World War I Living History Project, Centenary Edition

In 2006, the original 4.5 million doughboys of World War One had shrunk to a mere handful of veterans, aged 105 to 113.The World War I Living History Project was the only media project to recognize the legacy and contributions of this passing generation of soldiers. Producers traveled the country, interviewing the last 10 soldiers of the "war to end all wars."

Frank Buckles in 1918 -- he was the last living US veteran of WWI. Buckles died in 2012.

Hosted by veteran CBS anchor Walter Cronkite and Will Everett, this 100th anniversary edition of the World War I Living History Project recaps the causes and consequences of WWI through a combination of narrative, recordings of period speeches, and first-person accounts.

This is a two part series, airing Sunday, November 9 and Sunday, November 16 at 7 p.m.
