Venison Donation Coalition

By Skye Rohde

Syracuse, NY – Today may mark the end of the firearm hunting season, but the deer are still plentiful in upstate New York. Roadside deer kills are one result. But the overpopulation also means more deer meat is made available to the region's poor, thanks to a statewide network of hunters, meat processors and food banks called the Venison Donation Coalition. WRVO's Skye Rohde has this report about the organization, which aims to give local food pantries more than 2,500 pounds of venison this season.
