Ron Paul's presidential campaign came to Cornell University Thursday ahead of next week's all-but- decided Republican primary. Congressman Paul's speech was half lecture and half rally-cry.
It may come as no surprise to anyone who has followed Ron Paul's presidential campaigns to hear that he thinks Washington passes far too many laws. During Thursday's speech, he called for a repeal of the Patriot Act and the National Defense Authorization Act, which gives the military the power to detain U.S. citizens indefinitely without trial. He questioned the need for laws against drugs and called for an end to the Federal Reserve.
For Rep. Paul, politics aren't just about liberals versus conservatives.
"I'm trying to change that to show that it's liberty versus tyranny," Paul said.
About 4,000 enthusiastic, mostly young people, filled Cornell's hockey arena for the speech.
