UNDIVIDE US, a film for our times, coming to Auburn Public Theater

UNDIVIDE US, a film for our times, coming to Auburn Public Theater

UNDIVIDE US is an award-winning film that offers Americans a way out of the toxic political discord and deep divisions that have gripped our nation. A discussion, moderated by Sue Dwyer, former Cayuga County Clerk, and Chris Legg,
Town of Skaneateles Supervisor, will follow. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

The film showing is hosted by the Racial Justice and Reconciliation Commission of St.
James’ Episcopal Church, Skaneateles, and is co-sponsored by the following Central New York churches:

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Skaneateles
Poplar Ridge Quaker Meeting, Poplar Ridge
Sts. Peter and John Episcopal Church, Auburn
United Ministry of Aurora
Westminster Presbyterian Church, Auburn

America is at a crossroads where politicians, news media, and social media fan the flames of toxic partisanship, undermining our country’s values and democratic institutions. Ordinary Americans question whether they can trust their fellow citizens,
and the art of civil discourse has been lost.

UNDIVIDE US is an urgent plea to reclaim the nation’s soul through open discussion,
civic engagement, and self-governance. Through the intimate lens of six focus groups across three U.S. cities, the film reveals how toxic polarization drives us to fundamentally un-American places. In the process, the film reveals the potential for healing, conversation, and rediscovery of the values that unite us. The film stands as a beacon of hope and a call to action.

UNDIVIDE US is directed by Kristi Kendall, an executive producer for Harriet (2019) and producer for A Clean Slate (2023), and produced by Kendall, Carrie Conko, and Morgan Twist Garvey. The film has been shown on PBS and at numerous national and international film festivals since it was released in 2024.
