Buffalo – A researcher says pharmacists should be allowed to give flu and pneumonia shots.
Wayne Anderson -- Dean of the University of Buffalo's School of Pharmacy -- says the change would improve the state's rate of immunization. The state ranks 41st in the nation. He says that's because only doctors, physician assistants, registered nurses and nurse practitioners are allowed to give the shots in New York.
Researchers say shots from community pharmacists could be important to older Amercians or in areas where there's less access to transportation and complete health care.
