NPR's business news starts with a vote on jobs for veterans.

INSKEEP: As so often happens, this next story brings to mind a report from the satirical newspaper, The Onion. A recent Onion headline reads: "Obama Now Attempting to get Each Word of Jobs Bill Passed Individually." It's not quite that bad, but the Senate will vote this afternoon on a small part of the president's jobs plan.
This measure is aimed at getting unemployed veterans to work by providing tax credits of up to $9,600 to companies that hire disabled vets. The bill is expected to pass the Senate by a wide bipartisan margin - just a day before the country observes Veterans Day. A vote by the House is expected early next week.
