Geneva Music Festival 2023: The Iris Trio – Project Earth
Geneva Music Festival 2023: Gods, Myths and the Divine
Music and faith have been closely linked throughout history, often reinforcing and inspiring one another. In his fourth-century autobiography "Confessions," Saint Augustine described how the singing of hymns moved him spiritually and emotionally. Composers have continued to create countless works devoted to, animated by, or in service of their religious beliefs. This season, join us for an exploration of the deep and fruitful relationship between music and the Divine.

The Iris Trio presents the “Blue Chapter” of their multi-year Project Earth - an ecological prayer of sustainability for our planet. Through newly commissioned poetry and genre-crossing chamber music, the project explores our spiritual connections with the natural world and strives to illuminate the impact of human behavior on the environment, addressing issues of climate change, pollution, habitat degradation and biodiversity loss, while recognizing the power of our collective imagination to create meaningful change.
