Medicine Hunters: Following the First Scientific Expedition

The Carl A. Rubino Hamilton at The Other Side Lecture series presents a talk by Mackenzie Cooley, Associate Professor of History and Director of Medieval and Renaissance Studies. Dr. Francisco Hernandez was the physician sent by Spain in 1570 to lead the first explicitly scientific expedition in the Americas. Following his trail into Mexico, Professor Cooley uncovered how indigenous knowledge and European ambition collided in the search for cures.
