Star Party: Saturn and Farewell to Summer Skies

Star Party: Saturn and Farewell to Summer Skies

Lighter than water and nine times wider than Earth, Saturn is a gaseous wonder! September offers the best views of Saturn for the whole year. At least one of its 146 confirmed moons, Titan, should be visible with a telescope. Say farewell to summer skies with an evening of viewing Saturn, named for the Roman god of agriculture – fitting for harvest time!

Cultures across the world and throughout time are united in a fascination with the night sky. Humans have used stars to mark the passage of time, tell stories, build mythologies, and navigate across vast dark oceans. With powerful telescopes and a wealth of knowledge, Bob Piekiel is your tour guide to the stars and planets, revealing the secrets of the far away, inspiring us to think about how special our little green and blue ball in space is.

Registration for this program closes at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10.

More details: This program is offered for free thanks to our Star Party Program Sponsor, Marcellus Smiles. This program is designed for ages 8 and up. Space is limited and online pre-registration is required. The backup date will be September 13.
