Message Is Answered 20 Years After Bottle Is Tossed

RENEE MONTAGNE, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Renee Montagne with evidence it is a small world. Walking on the beach in Sweden, Anika Winhagen picked up a bottle with a message in it. The note in childish handwriting asked a future finder to respond. I like postcards, it read. A response was possible since it turned out Winhagen had worked with the mother of the girl who floated the bottle two decades ago. Grown up now, the writer wants her own daughter to launch a message in a bottle. It is MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
