STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has not joined the Occupy Wall Street protesters, but has a connection to them. The mayor's live-in girlfriend is Diana Taylor. She's on the board of directors of Brookfield Office Properties, a company that owns Zuccotti Park where protesters have been camping for weeks. Mayor Bloomberg insists that when he comes home in the evening the couple do not discuss the demonstrations or his girlfriend's business interests. You are listening to MORNING EDITION.
