DeLorean DMC-12 Goes Electric

ARI SHAPIRO, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Ari Shapiro with news of a car company going back to the future. In the 1980s, the DeLorean transported Marty McFly back in time. Now, Autoweek reports that the icon is going electric. The DeLorean's CEO unveiled a prototype over the weekend. It's lighter and stronger, but it keeps the steel frame and gullwing doors. It does on sale in 2013 for around $90,000. As Marty McFly would say, this is heavy. It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
