Tells Us Your Trick For Halloween Scares

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Now let's talk a little more about fear. On Halloween...

(SOUNDBITE OF TV SHOW, "MODERN FAMILY")

UNIDENTIFIED CHILD ACTORS: (As characters) Trick or treat.

INSKEEP: Let's remember, trick or treat is a choice.

(SOUNDBITE OF TV SHOW, "MODERN FAMILY")

JULIE BOWEN: (As Claire) Would you like some candy?

UNIDENTIFIED CHILD ACTORS: (As characters) Yeah.

BOWEN: (As Claire) Or would you rather have this?

UNIDENTIFIED CHILD ACTORS: (As characters, screaming).

INSKEEP: That's from the TV show "Modern Family" in which a mother offers a fake heart spurting blood. She is dedicated to freaking out her neighbors. Now we want to hear about your Halloween tricks - what you hide in the candy bowl or the creepy sound at the door.

(SOUNDBITE OF TV SHOW, "SCOOBY-DOO")

CASEY KASEM: (As Shaggy) Like, tell me that's you, Scoob.

SCOTT INNES: (As Scooby) Uh-uh (ph).

KASEM: (As Shaggy) I don't think it's me either.

INSKEEP: Ruh-roh (ph). Use a smartphone to record your story as a brief voice memo. If sounds are a big part of your tricks, send those, too, and email us at nprcrowdsource@npr.org with the subject line, Halloween scare. Include your first and last name and where you live in the recording. It could air on our show later this week. And the show is MORNING EDITION from NPR News.
