Edgar in the Red Room

Edgar in the Red Room

The death and final days of Edgar Allan Poe remain one of literature’s great unsolved mysteries. This “macabre cabaret” uses music, movement, projections, and shadow play that leads an audience through the darkened catacombs of Poe’s last nightmare, encountering many of his most infamous creations as he draws ever closer to the Red Room.

The Shylock Project is a group of multi-disciplinary artists from central New York, who have performed original works at festivals in Montreal, Toronto,

New York City, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and (this summer!) in Edinburgh. They return to Auburn Public Theater after a several-year absence, having previously presented Kafka's Metamorphosis: The Musical! In 2018 Kafka's metamorphosis: The Musical and Orson Welles/Shylock played sold-out houses and were nominated for "Best English Language Production.

"Edgar in the Red Room" makes its Auburn Public Theater debut featuring performances by actors Carly Nicolai, Aidan McKenna, and Patrick Burke, and by dancer and choreographer Maya Dwyer. Ori Inal projections are designed by Lindsey Voorhees with costumes by Kylee Galarneau. The text and music are written by Matt Chiotin and Greg Giovanini, based upon the works of Poe.
