Old Blind Dogs at the Night Eagle Cafe
Old Blind Dogs at the Night Eagle Cafe
The musical evolution of Old Blind Dogs began in Aberdeen in 1992 with roots that grew from the eclectic music scene flourishing in the Granite City during the early 90s. Four musicians from very different musical backgrounds came together to create a full-time professional touring band with the aim of showcasing the rich tradition of songs and tunes from Northeast Scotland on an international stage.
The current lineup consists of original member Jonny Hardie (fiddle/vocals), Aaron Jones (cittern/guitar/vocals), and Donald Hay (percussion/vocals). The band is completed by the brilliant piper/whistle player Mike Katz (formerly with The Battlefield Band). Inducted into the BBC ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards "Hall of Fame" in 2020, the 'Dugs' have celebrated over 30 years on the road.
Now working on a new record, their fourteenth studio album is still turning heads: "With an affectionate yet playful attitude to tradition, 'Knucklehead Circus' is a joyous, glorious, and thoroughly Scottish precursor to the Old Blind Dogs' 30th anniversary." -- 4 stars (Songlines)
The Night Eagle is delighted to welcome them back for a special Monday evening show! As ever, the Night Eagle Cafe thanks the Savage Club and the Lansing Area Performance Hall for their ongoing support.
