Invasion: Landscapes in Crisis describes the effects of deer-browsing, buck rubbing and other environmental threats to plants and trees in and around Cornell Plantations Botanical Gardens and Arboretum at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
Reported by Michael Ameigh and horticulturalist Jim Sollecito, host of WRVO’s podcast series ‘From the Soil with Sollecito,’ the program features interviews with Cornell Plantation Director of Horticulture Mary Hirschfeld, Horticultural and Grounds Operation Director Jim Mack, Cornell Plantations Gardeners Phil Syphrit and Mitja Stragapede, and Dr. Nina Bassuk, Professor of Plant Science and Director of the Urban Horticulture Institute at Cornell University.
Cornell Plantations comprises a mature botanical garden, arboretum, and a complex of nature preserves. It is a world-renowned center for environmental education and conservation that works to protect native species and habitats within the Plantations reserve, across the Plantations’ natural areas, throughout the region, and beyond.
