Governor Andrew Cuomo stopped in Syracuse Wednesday, fresh off the passage of the second straight on time budget under his administration. Cuomo called the $132.6 billion budget part of a series of actions that will transform New York State.
According to a poll released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University, Cuomo is riding a 68% approval rating. However, while voters approve of Cuomo's job performance, they are not as happy with the closed door negotiations that led to the budget's passage. 55% of those polled said the secretive negotiations were not necessary. 76% of voters polled said that "the lack of transparency surrounding these major policy deals is a very serious or somewhat serious problem."
Following the Governor's budget speech in Syracuse, he answered reporter's questions on transparency. He was also asked about reports that the Federal Emergency Management Agency could impose new flood maps along Onondaga Creek in Syracuse, forcing more than 1,000 homeowners to purchase flood insurance.
