The nature community in central New York lost one of its biggest advocates recently. John Weeks died last month at the age of 96. He was instrumental in the creation of nature centers like Baltimore Woods Nature Center in Marcellus, Rodgers Environmental Education Center in Sherburne, Rice Creek Field Station in Oswego, and Sterling Nature Center in Sterling.
His program, The Nature of Things, aired on WRVO Public Media for more than 20 years, and he also wrote a book called ‘Nature’s Quiet Conversations’ and was an accomplished artist.

A memorial service for John Weeks will be held Saturday, June 26 at 11 a.m. and will be streamed online.
