Oswego, New York – New York state Republican leaders are traveling the state to promote their job creation proposal.
Senate Minority Leader, Dean Skelos, was in Syracuse yesterday talking about the GOP plan. Skelos says it is better than Governor David Paterson's proposed Excelsior program.
The governor's Excelsior proposal offers tax breaks for newly created jobs, and targets growth in sectors like high-tech and biotech industries. On the program "The Capitol Pressroom," Skelos said the Republican plan, which offers tax breaks for job creation, is broader.
When comparing the two proposals, Skelos says, "We're targeting hundreds of thousands, potentially small businesses, where as the governor's plan is about targeting that may have benefits to about four companies in the state of New York."
According to Skelos, Republicans would also eliminate franchise taxes and other taxes he says cripples job growth.
Paterson announced the Excelsior proposal during his State of the State Address earlier this month.
