Oswego, NY – Sama Alshaibi is an artist of Iraqi and Palestinian descent who uses photography, video and performance to evoke the language of displacement and loss.

Alshaibi is an Assistant Professor of Photography at the University of Arizona and is currently finishing up her artist residency in Syracuse.

While giving a lecture at SUNY Oswego, she stopped by our studios and spoke with WRVO's Jasmyn Belcher about her so-called "hybrid identity" and how her experiences have shaped her work.
