Geneva Police say that a person who had been an inmate in the Ontaro County Jail has tested negative for COVID-19.
Originally, police said a man arrested on Thursday was brought to the Ontario County Jail with symptoms of the coronavirus.
The individual was later released on bail.
The Geneva Police Department initially had six members who were under self-quarantine due to having direct contact with the individual during his arrest, but those quarantines have now ended.
Ontario County Sheriff Kevin Henderson says that the inmate was housed in a negative pressure medical cell, designed to prevent airborne pathogens from going into the facility. He says the inmate was never in the general jail population.
Henderson says that they will curtail inmate visits at the Ontario County Jail as a precaution.
