This week: Multiple sclerosis, the new Phexxi birth control

Improved treatments, better health care and lifestyle changes have helped to increase the life expectancy for people with multiple sclerosis. Neurologist Corey McGraw, MD, provides an overview of MS, covering diagnosis, treatment options and outlook. He is an assistant professor of neurology at Upstate Medical University. Also this week, gynecologist Renee Mestad, MD, tells about a new nonhormonal birth control method that women can use "on-demand." Phexxi may be a good option for some women, she explains, going over how the contraceptive works, its effectiveness and potential side effects. Mestad is an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology. And, urologist Scott Wiener, MD, gives advice for preventing kidney stones.
