The U.S. House of Representatives is taking up a resolution that would call on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment and take over…

"I do not believe that such a course of action is in the best interest of our Nation or consistent with our Constitution," the vice president wrote on Tuesday evening.

The bill cites President Trump's attempts to intervene in the vote counting of the Nov. 3 election, as well as his language to supporters in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6. Read the resolution.

Ratified in 1967, the 25th Amendment to the Constitution gives the vice president the ability to assume the powers of the presidency if he has the support of the executive Cabinet.
