A search and rescue operation was underway for Sriwijaya Air Flight 182, which lost contact with air traffic controllers shortly after takeoff from Jakarta, according to transportation officials.

Karachi's mayor says there were no survivors on the plane — reported to be carrying about 100 people — that crashed into a neighborhood in Pakistan's most populated city.
