Gov. Kathy Hochul joined Micron executives and County Executive Ryan McMahon to announce members of a new community engagement committee which will help direct where funding will go within the community investment framework.

The economy of central New York, and much of upstate, will be transformed following the announcement Tuesday that tech company Micron will make a $100 billion investment to build several state-of-the-art semiconductor fabrication plants in the Town of Clay.

Micron, one of the world’s largest microchip manufacturers, is expected to open a semiconductor plant in New York, promising an investment of up to $100 billion and a plant that could bring 50,000 jobs to the state.
