Revisit the Revolution at Steuben Memorial State Historic for a weekend-long celebration of Baron von Steuben’s contribution to the American Revolution. In 1777, the Prussian-born Steuben volunteered his services to advise the ill-trained American army. At Valley Forge, he converted the ragged, starving army into an effective fighting force. The event will feature a Revolutionary War encampment and twice-daily reenactments of Steuben’s time at Valley Forge.

Visitors are invited to interact with the interpreters and ask questions, and kids will be invited to participate in military drills with wooden muskets. An artillery fire demonstration will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. A travelling Revolutionary War exhibit will feature the uniform of William North, Aide-de-Camp to Baron von Steuben. Demonstrations of colonial beer brewing, laundry, and 18th-century toys and games will be ongoing during the weekend.

The event will close on Sunday with a 2:00 p.m. performance by the Utica Mannerchor choir, followed by a 3:00 p.m. Commemoration Ceremony beginning at the cabin and processing to the tomb for the laying of wreaths and a cannon and musket salute.
