Free Film: "His Girl Friday"

Free Film: "His Girl Friday"

Utica University’s free "Films on Thursday" series continues with a screening of the all-time classic, "His Girl Friday."

Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell fire off witty, fast-paced dialogue in one of the most critically acclaimed screwball comedies of all time. In this classic adaptation of "The Front Page," a newspaper editor schemes to prevent a former star reporter—who happens to be his ex-wife—from getting married by dangling a juicy story in front of her.

Part biting satire and part romantic comedy, "His Girl Friday" is filled with mile-a-minute dialogue delivered with effortless comic timing. In 1993, the Library of Congress selected the film for preservation in the United States National Film Registry. The American Film Institute ranked it the 19th greatest comedy of all time, and the Writers Guild of America West recognized it as one of the greatest screenplays ever written.
