Hamilton College Common Ground: Capitol Under Assault
Hamilton College Common Ground: Capitol Under Assault
The Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol remains more contested on its fifth anniversary than it was on the day it occurred. The world saw what happened, and subsequent investigations made clear why it happened. Yet, with the re-election of President Donald Trump and amnesty granted to the assault’s participants, Jan. 6’s meaning to America isn’t history, but a partisan political issue.
Former U.S. Rep. and Hamilton alumnus Matt Cartwright (D-Pa.) and former U.S. Rep. Tom Rice (R-S.C.) had a front-row seat to the mayhem and the president’s impeachment. They will share their memories and analysis.
