Did you know that some people collect sand? Sand collectors call themselves arenophiles. Have you ever wondered about the sand along the shoreline of Lake Ontario? Geologist Fred Haynes will help us explore the sands of Lake Ontario and the composition and origin of the different sand types present at Sterling and elsewhere along Lake Ontario. An indoor discussion will be followed by an expedition to the lakeshore to discover the sand types along our shoreline and seek out other geologic highlights. The program will be kid-friendly and appeal to those interested in Lake Ontario.
