This week: Over-medication, virtual emergency visits, robotic tool for neurosurgery

As we grow older, we are more likely to develop long-term health conditions that require taking multiple medications. Many older people also take over-the-counter medications, vitamins or supplements. As a result, older adults have a higher risk of over-medication and unwanted drug reactions.

Dr. Sharon Brangman shares advice for how to reduce these risks -- and what to consider before adding any medication. She’s the chief of geriatrics at Upstate and a former president of the American Geriatrics Society.

Also on "HealthLink on Air" this week, Dr. William Paolo explains how virtual emergency department visits are done, and Dr. G. Duemani Reddy tells about a new robotic tool he uses in brain surgeries, including some procedures to treat epilepsy. Listen this Sunday, November 8 at 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. for more.
