Feature Interview: Jill Tiefenthaler

By Skye Rohde

Oswego, NY – A joint effort to simplify the food stamp application process in Madison County appears to be paying off. Colgate University's Upstate Institute has been working with Madison County's Community Action Program and Department of Social Services to study how former welfare recipients use social services like food stamps. Jill Tiefenthaler is an economics professor at Colgate and director of the program. She tells WRVO's Skye Rohde that a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture has helped the group's efforts to increase food stamp use by poor residents of Madison County.
