Dying to Be Beautiful

By Chris Ulanowski

Oswego, NY – The debate over whether restrictions should be lifted on the general or cosmetic use of silicone-gel breast implants points to the dangers and risks some people are willing to face to look good.
Government regulation of cosmetic treatments came about in the early 20th century.
Professor Gwen Kay, who teaches history at the State University College at Oswego, has chronicled the history of those early regulations in her book "Dying to Be Beautiful" published by Ohio University Press. Kay spoke with WRVO's Chris Ulanowski.

( Gwen Kay will speak about her book May 2nd at the River's End bookstore in Oswego)
