Fort Ontario celebrates an Italian classic

WRVO News

When stories from our local history reveal themselves to have made an impact nationally, a celebration is in order. On Friday, March 6, the Friends of Fort Ontario will hold an event honoring Garibaldi Lapolla. Lapolla was an author and educator stationed at the fort in Oswego, and ended up producing a cookbook in 1953 that was the basis for Italian-American classics we know today -- "Italian Cooking for the American Kitchen."

WRVO's Mark Lavonier met with Dan Laird, president of the Friends of Fort Ontario, and brings us this audio postcard.

Tickets for the dinner event are available by advanced registration until Friday, February 28. Call (315) 343-4711 for details and to make reservations. Proceeds will benefit educational programming, special events, and projects at Fort Ontario State Historic Site.
