Zoo New York at Thompson Park

Zoo New York is asking for $375,000 in annual funding from Jefferson County.

The City of Watertown approved $100,000 for Zoo New York for the season by a 3 to 2 vote.

The Zoo leadership is looking for $750,000 in yearly payments from local government funding for at least five years, split evenly between the City of Watertown and Jefferson County.

The zoo is cutting back operations and is closed to the public until further notice.
