The New York State Capitol.

With the New York state budget due in days, there hasn’t been much progress of late.

Major sticking points in negotiations include changes to the payout rules for auto insurance, environmental reviews for housing projects, taxes on the wealthy and climate policy.

The New York Public News Network’s Jimmy Vielkind and Samuel King discuss the latest on the budget and how groups are trying to influence what goes into the final product.

Jimmy Vielkind covers how state government and politics affect people throughout New York. He has covered Albany since 2008, most recently as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal.
Samuel King is a Capitol News Bureau reporter for the New York Public News Network, producing multimedia stories on issues of statewide interest and importance.
