Hamilton College’s Common Ground program to host live taping of WCNY’s “Ivory Tower”

Hamilton College’s Common Ground program is hosting a live taping of WCNY’s “Ivory Tower” program. This will be the first installment of the public television station’s series, “Ivory Tower On the Road” hosted at local colleges and universities.

The event will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m., in the Fillius Events Barn on Hamilton’s campus. All Common Ground events are free and open to the public.

“Ivory Tower” is a weekly round-table discussion that focuses on news and events from the perspective of college professors primarily from the fields of history, political science, and economics. They are faculty members from local colleges and universities across Central New York. The show airs on Fridays at 8 p.m. on WCNY-TV.

Hamilton College alumnus David Chanatry, professor of journalism at Utica University and director of the New York Reporting Project, hosts the program. Six local professors from Hamilton College (Ty Seidule), Utica University (Luke Perry and Rick Fenner), Colgate University (Nina Moore and Chad Sparber), and Onondaga Community College (Tara Ross) will discuss current events and news. Barbara Fought, professor emerita at Syracuse University, will moderate.

This event will not be live streamed, but will be broadcast on the WCNY PBS television channel on Friday, March 1, at 8:00 p.m. and made available on their website following the broadcast.

Common Ground is Hamilton’s widely acclaimed multi-format program designed to explore cross-boundary political thought and complex social issues.
