This week: Child life specialists, spinal tumors and a story of cancer survival

If your child is hospitalized, a team of medical professionals will be involved in his or her care, including child life specialists.

Gina Lozito, the child life manager at the Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital, explains the role of these specialists in this week’s “HealthLink on Air.” They're stationed throughout the hospital, so they can be available in inpatient rooms, the emergency department, operating rooms and radiology and outpatient offices. They help relieve stress by building rapport with children and help children and their families understand what's happening medically.

Also this week, neurosurgeon Michael Galgano tells about spinal tumors, and central New York athlete Dan Kosick shares his story of cancer survival.

Tune in this Sunday, February 17 at 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.
