As primary day quickly approaches, it looks like there will not be a debate in the 22nd Congressional District race between Republican opponents Rep. Richard Hanna and Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney.
Hanna, who currently represents the district which stretches from Binghamton to Utica to the eastern half of Oswego County, says challenger Tenney has been dishonest in her campaign.
"It's such an unproductive process we're in to be asked to debate somebody who just lies to my face," said Hanna. "I say if she's going to do that, I'm not going to debate her and she can do it on her own time with her own time. I'm not going to help her do that."
Tenney says Hanna is one of the most liberal Republicans in the House of Representatives and says she is the true conservative in the primary race.
Hanna says in his first term in the House, he passed more legislation than any other incoming freshman congressman that entered the year he did. Primary day is June 24. There are no Democrats running in this year's race.
