The Post-Standard to publish three days a week

After more than one hundred years in circulation, Syracuse's newspaper is cutting production to three days a week.

Advance Publications, which owns The Post-Standard, announced that the paper will publish on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday for homes and newsstands beginning in January 2013.

Smaller versions of the paper will be available the other four days of the week only in Onondaga County. The paper will also merge with its partner website, syracuse.com, to create a new digital news entity.

In a statement, Post-Standard editor and publisher Stephen Rogers says that Syracuse must adapt to a changing media landscape. Advance Publications also owns The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which announced similar cutbacks.

Newspapers owned by Advance Publications in New Orleans and Alabama announced a shift to a three-day-per-week delivery in May.
