WRVO's spring fundraiser started Saturday, March 7, and was scheduled to last until 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 14. Throughout the on-air portion of our campaign, we said we wanted to provide our listeners with more programming and less on-air fundraising.
Our hope was to reach our overall goal of $170,000 by Saturday afternoon, and as of Thursday evening, we had raised about $105,000. We want to thank everyone that has made a contribution so far, and to those who contributed to our recent "Foneless" February campaign.
However, due to current events, including ongoing coverage of the coronavirus, WRVO has made the decision to suspend the on-air portion of our spring fundraising campaign for the time being.
"At this time we feel we can better serve the public by devoting more of our air time to reporting on this important issue," said WRVO Station Manager Bill Drake. "We hope you'll understand that when the time is appropriate, we will be back on the air asking for your help to finish our fundraising campaign successfully. But right now our priority is providing comprehensive news coverage."
WRVO does plan to resume the on-air portion of our spring fundraiser later this spring, in order to raise the rest of the money we need to pay for the programming you rely on each day.
In the meantime, you can still help WRVO reach our goal. If you didn't get a chance to donate, you can make a contribution online, or you can still call us to make a contribution at (315) 312-3690.
