Enjoy holiday specials on air this season


This holiday season we're bringing you some specials from NPR and other producers. They're sure to make you think, laugh, tear up or even sing. Holiday programs air Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. A complete list, along with air times, is below:

A Christmas Carol, presented by Jonathan Winters

Tuesday, December 24 at 8 p.m.

An updated version of a public radio tradition hosted by NPR's Susan Stamberg. Master comedian Jonathan Winters (who passed away in April of this year) presents a distinctive reading of Dickens' holiday classic, with a special performing edition prepared by Dickens for his own presentations. Also featuring Mimi Kennedy. From NPR and KCRW.

Tinsel Tales: NPR Christmas Favorites

Wednesday, December 25 at 11 a.m.

This program features stories from the NPR archives that touch on the meaning of Christmas. David Sedaris, Bailey White, John Henry Faulk - these and other NPR voices, past and present, tell stories of the season. Hosted by Lynn Neary.

Tinsel Tales 2

Wednesday, December 25 at noon

NPR fills millions of homes each holiday with humor, warmth, and a host of festive voices. Continuing with the tradition of the first Tinsel Tales program, this is yet another collection of the best and most requested holiday stories. Joy, hope, and childhood memories overflow as NPR voices tell stories of the season- once again. Hosted by Lynn Neary.

Third Coast International Audio Festival

Best of the Third Coast Festival

Wednesday, January 1 at 11 a.m.

Each year, the Third Coast International Audio Festival brings the best new documentaries produced worldwide to the national airwaves in a special program hosted by award-winning writer, producer and humorist Gwen Macsai.

Capitol Steps

Tuesday, December 31 at 8pm and Wednesday, January 1 at noon

Help roast 2013 to a crisp with the Capitol Steps and their annual year-in-review awards ceremony. It's all in their hour-long special, "Politics Takes a Holiday!" This year the program features all-new awards like "Best Moment in Senator Ted Cruz's 21-hour Filibuster" and "Best Reason to Spy on the American Public- Because You Can!"
