Starting Tuesday morning, Senate confirmation hearings begin for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. The 53-year-old Federal Judge is President Trump’s pick to fill the spot left vacant by Justice Anthony Kennedy who retired in July. Democrats and Republicans are sharply divided over his nomination and the hearings will be a major political focal point in the months leading up to the midterm elections.
WRVO will be airing live coverage of the confirmation hearings this week, starting Tuesday, September 4 at 9:30 a.m. The hearings could go on for a number of days and our live coverage will continue accordingly, stating at 9:30 a.m. and continuing until questioning wraps up.
Live coverage will preempt our regularly-scheduled programming, but you can still listen to our usual line-up online (using the large white play button above our menu) and on the WRVO app (available for Apple and Android devices in your app store). We expect coverage will continue daily through at least Thursday, September 6 and could be extended to Friday, as well, for a possible third round of questioning.
This is the tentative schedule for the hearings:
Tuesday, Sep. 4 at 9:30 a.m. | Opening remarks from the 21 senators on the Judiciary Committee and Judge Kavanaugh
Wednesday, Sep. 5 at 9 a.m. | First round of questioning
Thursday, Sep. 6 at 9:30 a.m. | Second round of questioning from senators
A live video feed of the hearings will also be available online. You can check back daily for more details on the feeds.
