High-tech multinational companies have moved into the area and they're hiring. Meanwhile some local school districts are struggling with graduation rates around 50 percent.
Jobs in STEM fields can pay 75 percent more than other jobs in the Capital Region, but historically, men have dominated those lucrative lines of work. Now there's a new push to try to close the gender gap.
