Congressman Bill Owens has released the first television advertisement of his re-election campaign -- a day after his Republican opponent Matt Doheny did.
The re-match between Owens and Doheny is one of the most hotly contested congressional races in the country, with most national analysts declaring it a toss-up.
Owens' television commercial largely focuses on economic issues and how to fight the high unemployment rate in his North Country district.
Doheny says his Democratic opponent's TV ad misleads viewers on his record on jobs.
In addition to being a close race, the contest for the newly redrawn 21st congressional district is promising to be an expensive one -- which will likely mean more campaign commercials. As of July, Doheny had over half a million dollars in the bank, and Owens nearly twice that much.
