Three more Onondaga County residents died of COVID-19 in the last day, Onondaga County Ryan McMahon announced Tuesday. That brings the total number of deaths in the county to 40. The latest deaths were men in their 60s, 80s, and 90s, all with underlying health conditions.
McMahon said there are now 1,115 total positive cases of COVID-19 in the county, up 27 from the day before. 47 people are currently hospitalized, 13 in critical condition. McMahon noted that of the 452 active cases in the county, 302 of them are household contacts or related to senior living facilities.
McMahon also said there are three more locations of potential COVID-19 exposures in the county. people who shopped at the following stores on the days and times listed may have been exposed:
Rite Aid, 519 Butternut Street in Syracuse
• Monday, April 27: 7:00 am to 4:00 pm
• Tuesday, April 28: 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
Dollar Tree, 3130 Erie Boulevard East in DeWitt
• Tuesday, April 28: 11:00 am to 12:00 noon
Target, 340 Town Drive in Fayetteville
• Tuesday, April 28: 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm
Health officials say the positive individuals who were in those stores were wearing a mask, so the risk of transmission is lower, but anyone who was in those stores at those times should self-monitor for symptoms.
